Store Bay is located on the Southern most, SE,
part of Tobago. A short walk from the airport in Crown
Point. I found the accommodations reasonable at "Sun
Spree" - formerly known as "The Mermaid Inn". Walking
distance to "Stone Bay", where I was afforded some beautiful
sunsets and beach time.
The gentleman pictured on the the top left is
called "Dimples". "Dimples" owns/runs, the lounge
chair rentals of Store Bay. At first I thought of him as a
hustler, but soon realized that he provided a service I should
consider. In time, I realized that "Dimples" would keep an
eye on my stuff. I enjoyed several swims off the beach of
Stone Bay, and explored it's surroundings, while my stuff was
safely guarded by" Dimples".
The young lady
pictured with a bottle of Jose Cuervo requires no explanation,
except to say that she stayed there, and I took picture only.
I went diving with R & S Divers - Tobago, West Indies. We
(Billy, Kate, Collin, and I) met up with Captain Kyle and dive
master, Nathaniel. We proceeded from the dive shop to the
marina, where the boat was stowed.
I've learned to manage expectations while in Trinidad & Tobago
and the boat left something to be desired. It was
seaworthy, so we continued to board. The 16' row boat,
with duel 200HP Merck's.
You guessed it, we were in for a ride.
After wondering where my breakfast went without losing it; I
realized that we we're traveling around the Southern tip of the
Island and diving the Atlantic side. The sea looked calm,
but we we're navigating 6-8' swells (talk about a bumpy ride). We did a quick dive
brief and got ready for the dive.
Hands on mask,
regulator in mouth, ready to go . . . 1, 2, 3, back roll into
the water and descend. 50' to the dive site, or
should I say "the eternal dessert of the sea". Captain
Kyle, missed the dive site. With 2/3rds of the earths surface
covered in water, I'll cut him some slack, but not much with GPS
technology that was apparently absent on the 16' footer.
Having said all that; Enjoyed pleasant dives at "Flying Reef -
Upper & Lower": saw Manta Rays,
schools of fish, and enjoyed good company. A great day on
the water, or I should say under the water.
